I set out across the land
\nKnowing not where I would stop
\nSettling with unease each night along the way
\nA route through brambled undertuff
\nThe stars to light my way<\/p>\n
The heat of days
\nThe salt-crust red of skin
\nDust and callus hands beridged<\/p>\n
I found along my arc through deepest steamcrossed plain
\nA field girded round with wire rusted, barbed in vain
\nNo longer were the cattle bound within its mesh
\nFlesh had long ago made way for sun bleached scaffolding
\nThe beat of many rays<\/p>\n
The rhythm found
\nI trudged along
\nNot asking what to seek<\/p>\n
The time would come when I laid down
\nTo rest of that was sure
\nParameters for marking home
\nElusive as the dew<\/p>\n
Thirst of days
\nNo water found
\nHeat and ache and nothing new<\/p>\n
Then one night, under the stars
\nI cast my thoughts adrift
\nFound peace in looking up at them
